CURRENT RELEASE

This mailing list is used for communications about the SonicWALL Global VPN Client. The latest version GVC 4.0.0.830 supports 32-bit Microsoft Vista systems while GVC v4.2 supports 64-bit Microsoft Vista and XP systems. Both are available for download from www.mysonicwall.com with a valid support contract.



CURRENT BETA PROGRAM


A newer version of GVC (v4.2) is which supports 32-bit Vista systems is now available via this list server for beta. The following new features are part of this release.
- Support for Windows 7
- New Log Viewer UI
- New Certificate manger UI
- New Connection properties UI
- Main Application menu, log viewer menu and options available in the menu are changed; new icons in the menu for both
- New Virtual Adapter
- Latest Version of DNE
- GVC is using MSI Installer instead of InstallShield Installer


The following issues have been resolved in this release:
50323 - Vista only: If GVC connection is set to enable when wake up from sleep or hibernate, error message “Virtual Adapter can not be found” is shown and GVC connection is disabled
65409 - GVC goes into infinite loop when Virtual Adapter is set to static IP address and attempts connection to UTM whose VPN Policy is set to DHCP only
76785 - LAN Settings> Next Hop IP Address not being adhered to by GVC


The software and documentation can be accessed by following the instructions below.

1. Log into www.mysonicwall.com using an existing, registered account or create a new one for free.

2. Go to your account Preferences (Click on “My Account” then click on “Preferences”), select “Yes - I want to be a Beta Tester” and click the “Save” button.

3. Now go to your list of registered products (click on the tab “My Products”) and select any PRO, TZ, or NSA class products that support the SonicWALL Global VPN Client.

4. Scroll to the bottom of the page for that product and you should see a link for “GVC 4.2 32 Bit Beta Firmware Download”. Click on the “Try” link next to it.

5. This should bring up an “Activate Service” screen – please accept the terms and conditions if you agree and click on “SUBMIT”.

6. Now you should be presented with the “Beta Downloads” screen where you can access the software and documentation.

Note - DO NOT install beta software onto ANY production hardware or environments. We strongly encourage you to make a backup of all your preferences and settings prior to loading any beta. Also, please be sure to read and review the release notes available from the download page. It is very important that you are aware of what issues and workarounds are available to avoid any potential problems that may impact your environment.



BETA FEEDBACK

You can provide feedback at any time by posting a message on the Global VPN Client 4.2 32-bit Beta forum at “https://forum.sonicwall.com/forumdisplay.php?f=111”. In order to log into the general forum, please use your MySonicWALL account credentials. Create an account for free if you do not already have one. To access the specific GVC 4.2 beta forum you will need to enter the password “carrot”.

When you post a message to the forum, be sure to provide information including beta software version and specific details about your deployment and configuration so we can work to resolve your issue as quickly as possible. All information collected by SonicWALL is confidential and will only be used for the purposes of the beta program.

Note that the forum is only available to the beta community. This includes you but also all other beta testers. Please keep this in mind when you post information about your own network which you believe is sensitive.

You can always find the latest status on the beta program, beta software, and documentation through the “Global VPN Client 4.2 32 Bit Beta Firmware” page on www.mysonicwall.com, so be sure to check in often for up-to-date information and resources. In addition, notifications of any updates or changes in the program will be posted here.

Subscribing to GVC

Subscribe to GVC by filling out the following form. You will be sent email requesting confirmation, to prevent others from gratuitously subscribing you. This is a hidden list, which means that the list of members is available only to the list administrator.

    You may enter a privacy password below. This provides only mild security, but should prevent others from messing with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password as it will occasionally be emailed back to you in cleartext.

    If you choose not to enter a password, one will be automatically generated for you, and it will be sent to you once you've confirmed your subscription. You can always request a mail-back of your password when you edit your personal options. Once a month, your password will be emailed to you as a reminder.
